Stops & places to visit

Sai Yok Noi and Sai Yok Yai waterfalls

Sai Yok Noi sits beside the road and is easy for older visitors and children. Sai Yok Yai, inside the national park, tumbles straight into the Khwae Noi and has a photogenic suspension bridge.

Lawa Cave

A large limestone cave on the Khwae Noi with several chambers of formations, usually reached by boat from the raft houses. Allow around 45 minutes and wear non-slip shoes.

Hellfire Pass

A memorial to the Death Railway cutting that prisoners of war hacked through the hillside in the Second World War, with a museum and walking trail — quiet and deeply informative.

Bridge over the River Kwai and the Death Railway

In Kanchanaburi town on the way to Sai Yok. You can walk the bridge and ride the train along the Tham Krasae cliffside stretch, the most scenic part of the line.

Mallika R.E. 124

A recreated Siamese town from the reign of King Rama V, with period dress and traditional food, between Kanchanaburi town and Sai Yok — enjoyable for families and photography.

Erawan National Park

Kanchanaburi's famous seven-tier waterfall, on a slightly different road from Sai Yok. To see both, plan a two-day trip or a daily charter rather than rushing.

Travel tips for this route

  1. Many raft houses are reached by boat with limited departures. Check the last sailing time with your accommodation and plan to reach the landing at least an hour beforehand.
  2. The Khwae Noi and its waterfalls run fullest and clearest from late rainy season into early winter, roughly October to January. In the dry months some falls almost disappear.
  3. Mobile coverage at most raft houses is weak or absent, so agree the return pick-up time clearly on the outbound leg and allow margin for the boat's arrival.
  4. To include the River Kwai bridge and Hellfire Pass en route, allow at least two to three extra hours, or take a daily charter for more flexibility than a single one-way trip.

What's included

  • Professional driver who knows the route
  • Fuel + expressway and motorway tolls
  • Chilled water on board · child seat on request
  • Parking fees everywhere · light snacks on board

Frequently asked questions

How long is Bangkok to Sai Yok?
About three and a half to four hours via Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi town. Add one to two hours if you want to stop at the River Kwai bridge. Leave early so you reach the boat landing in time for the raft transfer.
Can the van reach the raft house?
It depends on the property. Some roadside rafts are directly accessible, while mid-river rafts need a boat from a landing. We deliver you and your luggage to the landing — give us the raft name at booking and we will confirm which pier and what time the boat runs.
What is included in ฿6,500?
Fuel, tolls, the driver and bottled water. It is a flat one-way whole-vehicle price. Boat transfers, national park fees, accommodation and ฿500 per night driver accommodation are separate.
What happens to the van during an overnight raft stay?
Two options. Either the van returns to Bangkok and comes back at an agreed time matched to your boat, with no accommodation charge; or the van and driver stay locally for ฿500 per night, which suits itineraries with further stops the next day.
Can we combine Erawan and Sai Yok in one trip?
Possible but very rushed as a day trip — they are on different roads about an hour and a half apart. Plan two days and one night, or a daily charter. Send the itinerary on LINE and we will sequence it without backtracking.
