Stops & places to visit

Bang Pakong Rest Area (km 60)

The natural halfway break on Motorway 7, with clean restrooms, coffee, food stalls and fuel. Fifteen minutes here makes a big difference if you're travelling with kids or elderly passengers.

Nong Mon Market, Bang Saen

Chonburi's classic souvenir market on Sukhumvit Road — sticky rice in bamboo, coconut custard sweets and dried seafood. It's a short detour off the motorway but worth it for local snacks.

Khao Chi Chan and Wat Yansangwararam

A giant Buddha image laser-carved into a cliff face in Sattahip, south of Pattaya, usually visited together with the nearby temple complex. Best photographed in soft morning or late afternoon light.

Sanctuary of Truth, Naklua

An entirely hand-carved wooden temple on the seafront in North Pattaya, open roughly 08:20–18:00. Allow an hour to an hour and a half to walk through it properly.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

A very large botanical garden in Na Jomtien with themed gardens, a dinosaur valley zone and cultural shows. Easily a half-day stop and a reliable favourite with children.

Bali Hai Pier for Koh Larn

The departure point for the island ferry, a 30–45 minute crossing. Schedules start early in the morning and can shift with sea conditions, so check the day's timetable before you commit.

Travel tips for this route

  1. The worst windows are Friday 16:00–19:00 heading out of Bangkok and Sunday afternoon to evening coming back, especially on long weekends. Leaving before 07:00 or in the mid-morning 10:00–14:00 lull usually saves you an hour.
  2. Insist on Motorway 7 rather than the old Sukhumvit or Bang Na–Trat route — it is significantly faster past Chonburi city. Tolls are already in our price, so there is nothing to negotiate or pay at the booths.
  3. Season matters. November to February is the most pleasant and also the busiest, so book ahead. March to May is very hot, and May to October is the rainy season with September and October the wettest — worth a backup plan if a Koh Larn day trip is the point of the journey.
  4. For airport pickups, allow 45–60 minutes after landing for immigration and baggage. Tell us how many large suitcases you have when booking so we can recommend the right vehicle — a full Alphard with seven adults leaves little room for big bags.

How long does the drive from Bangkok to Pattaya take?
The route is about 124 km and normally takes 2 to 2.5 hours via Motorway 7. Leaving central Bangkok at rush hour or on a public holiday can push it to around 3 hours. Pickups from Suvarnabhumi are usually quicker because the airport sits close to the motorway entrance.
What is included in the ฿4,000 price? Are there hidden charges?
Fuel, motorway tolls, the driver and bottled water are all included — one price per trip. A Toyota Commuter (9–13 seats) is ฿4,000 and a Toyota Alphard (6–7 seats) is ฿9,000. A ฿500 deposit confirms the booking and the balance is paid on the day. If your plan changes, we quote the difference before the trip, never after.
Can we stop along the way?
Yes. Tell us where you'd like to stop when you book — the Bang Pakong rest area, Nong Mon Market or Khao Chi Chan are common choices — and the driver builds the time into the schedule. Short stops on the normal route are not charged extra; longer detours are quoted in advance so there are no surprises.
Is a Bangkok–Pattaya day trip realistic?
It works well. Leaving Bangkok around 07:00 puts you in Pattaya before 10:00, giving a full day before an evening return. Our rate is per trip, so a return journey counts as two. If you want the van and driver to stay with you all day, ask for a full-day charter quote instead.
What if we stay overnight in Pattaya?
Most guests simply book two separate one-way trips — dropped off on arrival day, collected on the day they leave — which means no driver accommodation to worry about. If you'd rather keep the van with your group for a multi-day trip, that's priced as a daily charter plus the driver's accommodation.
