Travel tips for this route

Safari runs start around 2 to 3pm and return before dusk. Leaving Bangkok about 7am gets you there before noon with time for lunch and registration.
Only park or licensed local vehicles may enter the viewing area — private vans cannot — so we drop at the ranger station and wait for the agreed return time.
Sighting chances are highest from late rainy season into early winter, roughly October to January, when water and grass are plentiful. Nothing is guaranteed, as these are genuinely wild animals.
Bring a long zoom lens and wear muted colours. Avoid noise and flash photography, which disturb the animals and can send a herd back into the forest.

Yes, but you will get home late — the safari ends around 6pm and the drive back takes another four and a half hours, putting you in Bangkok near 11pm. If you are not in a hurry, a night in Pranburi or Hua Hin is far more comfortable.
