Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat
Home of Phra Phuttha Chinnarat, on the Nan river in the city centre. Open from early morning; arriving before 9am avoids crowds and heat. Dress modestly; a souvenir market sits at the entrance.
Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park
A mountain park with cracked-rock plateaus, mushroom-shaped stones and a history of political conflict. Cool year round, with a steep winding approach best driven in daylight.
Chan Palace
An archaeological site believed to be the birthplace of King Naresuan, with a shrine and excavated ruins, a short distance from the main temple.
Tai Market and the hanging-leg noodles
A riverside market serving local food including Phitsanulok's distinctive 'hanging-leg' noodles, eaten sitting on a raised bench above the river.
Naresuan University
A large campus outside the city that also houses the university hospital. Name the faculty or building when booking so the driver uses the right gate.
Kaeng Sopha Waterfall and Khao Kho
A large multi-tier waterfall on the road up to Phu Hin Rong Kla, fullest in the rainy season. Khao Kho lies beyond in Phetchabun and can be combined on a daily charter.

How long is Bangkok to Phitsanulok?
About five to six hours for the 400 km along the Asian Highway via Nakhon Sawan, or up to seven on long weekends. Start early and break the journey at Nakhon Sawan, exactly midway.
What is included in ฿6,500?
Fuel, expressway and motorway tolls, the driver and bottled water. It is a flat one-way whole-vehicle price. Park fees, accommodation, meals and ฿500 per night driver accommodation are separate.
Can we continue from Phitsanulok to Sukhothai?
Easily — they are only an hour apart. A daily charter with two nights works well: the first day for Phra Phuttha Chinnarat and the city, the second for Sukhothai Historical Park, which deserves a full day.
Can the van reach Phu Hin Rong Kla?
Yes, with a driver experienced on mountain roads, as the approach is steep and winding and takes about two hours from the city. Tell us the destination at booking and we assign a suitable driver, travelling in daylight and safe conditions only.
What should we wear to see Phra Phuttha Chinnarat?
Dress modestly — no shorts above the knee, sleeveless or strappy tops. The temple lends cover-ups but queues can be long at weekends, so bringing a shawl or sarong in the van is easier.
