Toyota Commuter
Fuel + tolls + driver + water included
A private van with driver from Chiang Khan back to Bangkok costs ฿9,700 per trip for a Toyota Commuter and ฿16,600 per trip for a Toyota Alphard. That is the charter price per vehicle one way, not per person, and it covers the driver, fuel, expressway tolls and bottled water on board. The fare table distance is 584 km and the drive takes about 7.5 to 9.5 hours including rest stops, depending on the pickup point and traffic. The way back leaves Chiang Khan through Loei town, then follows the Phetchabun road (Route 21) past Lom Sak and Phetchabun into Saraburi before Bangkok. We pick up at the guesthouses on the riverside street and at other points around Chiang Khan, and we drop at any home, condo or hotel in Bangkok, or at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports for the same price. If you are catching a flight, send the flight number and departure time so we can work out when to leave Chiang Khan and still leave room for check-in. On travel day you tap the button to say you are at the pickup point on your trip page, the driver comes to where you are standing and confirms with your 4-digit pickup code. A 50% deposit confirms the van and the balance is paid on the travel day. Book on LINE @kingtocar or call 084-709-3719.

A sunrise and sea-of-mist viewpoint near town; the last stretch is by local truck. To go up before driving back you have to start before first light, then set the van pickup for later in the morning.
The street along the Mekong with old wooden houses, cafés and gift shops, and the morning sticky-rice alms round. You can buy coconut candy before you leave, because the guesthouses and the pickup point are on this street.

An old Lan Xang-style temple on the riverside street, close to the guesthouses, so it works as a short stop before departure. Dress modestly and check the opening hours before you go.

Rapids in the Mekong with riverside restaurants and the famous coconut candy. It lies the opposite way from the road to Bangkok, about 20 km there and back, so the morning before departure is the best time.

The first sizeable town on the way home, about 50 km from Chiang Khan, with restaurants, coffee shops and large petrol stations, and almost no detour from the route.

A district town on Route 21 halfway along the drive home, with restaurants and petrol stations — a good place to stretch your legs before the Phetchabun to Saraburi stretch.
A Toyota Commuter is ฿9,700 per trip and a Toyota Alphard ฿16,600 per trip. That is the charter price per vehicle, including driver, fuel, expressway tolls and bottled water. The return into Bangkok uses the same fare table as the outbound leg, with no surcharge for travelling back.
Most places to stay in Chiang Khan are on the riverside street, where the van can reach the door. The driver waits outside at the agreed time and your bags go straight in, instead of hauling them to the bus station in Loei town. If your guesthouse is down a narrow lane, send a Google Maps pin when you book.
We drop at the departures terminal of either airport for the same fare as a home or hotel in Bangkok. Send your flight number and departure time when you book and we will work out the departure time from Chiang Khan, allowing for the 584 km and for check-in.
All three towns sit on the road home, so a meal, a toilet break or a souvenir stop costs almost no detour. Mention it when you book so the driver can allow the time. For several stops or a long wait we will quote the hourly charter instead so you can compare before confirming.
The Toyota Commuter has 9–13 seats and suits larger groups, plenty of bags and boxes of souvenirs. The Toyota Alphard has 6–7 reclining captain seats, which is more comfortable over 584 km and suits families travelling with older relatives.
