Phra Pathom Chedi

Wat Rai Khing

The province's major temple, home to the revered Luang Pho Wat Rai Khing image, set on the Tha Chin river with a market alongside selling food and souvenirs — an easy continuation from Don Wai.

Buddhamonthon

A large Buddhist park centred on the towering Phra Si Sakyathotsaphonyan walking Buddha. The grounds are shaded and pleasant for strolling and photographs, with free entry.

Mahidol University Salaya

Sampran Riverside and Lam Phaya floating market

Sampran Riverside offers Thai cultural shows and rose gardens, while Lam Phaya market in Bang Len feels genuinely local, with boat trips along the river. Lam Phaya opens weekends only.

Travel tips for this route

Borommaratchachonnani jams outbound on Friday evenings and Phetkasem on Saturday mornings. For a temple trip, leaving Bangkok before 7am gets you to Phra Pathom Chedi before the crowds and the heat.
Don Wai market is busiest from 9am to 2pm and stalls start closing after two, so arrive before noon if lunch by the river is the plan and you want a good waterside table.
To continue to Damnoen Saduak floating market, leave Bangkok by 6am — that market is only truly active from early morning until about 10am, after which the boats thin out considerably.
On major Buddhist holidays and long weekends, Phra Pathom Chedi and Wat Rai Khing get very crowded and parking is scarce. A chartered van helps: you are dropped at the entrance while the driver finds parking.
